Petermann Bus, National Express School’s (NEXS’s) student transportation provider serving the state of Ohio, was originally founded in 1921 to provide transportation for children with special needs in Cincinnati. Along with his Rotary Club, Petermann organized the first education program for children with special needs in the basement of Cincinnati’s General Hospital. Subsequently, he was instrumental in building Condon School, the predecessor to today’s Roselawn-Condon School in Cincinnati’s Roselawn neighborhood.

Today, the third generation (now the Settle family), continues the tradition of providing safe, cost-effective transportation services for students, children and adults with special needs, as well as contracted employment transportation.

This personal experience provides a foundation for the understanding and empathy these children require to feel safe and have positive experiences. Our specialization has helped us nurture a unique commitment to quality service that has remained throughout our company. Today NEXS is responsible for getting more than 1.3 million students, 100,000 of which are those with special needs, to and from school each day.
