DURHAM ADDS ‘GREEN’ BUSES TO CUMBERLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT FLEET
Durham School Services, a leader in student transportation, and the Cumberland School District are working together to make student transportation greener. Durham purchased 24 new buses with cutting-edge engine and emission standards technologies and put them into use in Cumberland. Additionally, Durham uses a bio-diesel blend for cleaner emissions as part of its commitment to safety and the environment. “Promoting clean air is a responsibility Durham takes seriously and we will continue our efforts to be environmentally friendly,” said Ann Dettore, general manager for Durham School Services. “Most of the new vehicles are equipped with engines certified to the latest emissions standards and are based on the industry leading Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology.” “We are proud to partner with Durham to put clean school buses on the road,” said Phil Thornton, superintendent of the Cumberland public schools. “These new buses represent the next generation in clean engine student transportation and we believe these new technologies will have a positive impact on the environment.”
