DURHAM DONATES BUS FOR ‘OPERATION BACKPACK’ EVENT IN ROYAL OAK
Durham School Services, a leader in student transportation, donated a large school bus for Operation Backpack’s annual school supply drive to encourage residents in the Detroit area to “stuff the bus” with supplies for low-income students headed back to school.
“We are proud to be a part of this great community event to ensure that Royal Oak students have a successful academic year,” said Charlotte Beier, site supervisor at Durham School Services.
This year, local radio station 96.3 WDVD teamed up with FOX 2 and Volunteers of America Michigan’s Operation Backpack to spread awareness of the August school supply drive.
Volunteers of America Michigan’s Operation Backpack program provides low-income children returning to school with the basic supplies to thrive academically by reaching out to the local community for assistance with new backpacks and school supplies.
