DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES TEAM MEMBER RECEIVES GOLDEN MERIT AWARD

Lisle, Il – The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) awarded Durham School Services General Manager Alma Lawrence from the Irvine, CA facility the Golden Merit Award for her work in safety, advocacy and customer service. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Alma over the past 20 years,” said Bob Ramsdell, chief safety officer for National Express LLC. “I’ve witnessed firsthand her efforts to support and promote the student transportation industry. She is truly deserving of this recognition. ” Alma joined Durham School Services two decades ago as a driver and has shown a passion for the transportation industry ever since. One of the many examples of Alma’s support is her advocacy for school bus drivers, helping them understand their importance to both the company and the students they serve. Additionally, her focus on customer service has helped customers have confidence in the safety and services provided by her facility. “It is my pleasure to recognize these individuals for their commitment to service and community responsibility,” said Todd Monteferrario, NSTA past president. “This award was created to honor those who have made valuable contributions to safety, the students we transport and the communities we serve.” NSTA’s Golden Merit Award was established in 1969 to recognize school bus employees for their achievements in safety, driver training, business practice, vehicle maintenance and superior service to their school district, community and the student transportation industry.
