SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS CHOOSES DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES FOR STUDENT TRANSPORATION Durham will be creating 265 new jobs

Durham School Services, a leading provider of student transportation in North America, was recently awarded a four-year student transportation contract with the Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN.  The company will begin providing transportation on July 1, 2014.

Durham has served Shelby County Schools in a smaller capacity since 2010, but will now take over and operate the district’s entire fleet and all of its routes.

“Durham School Services is looking forward to serving the Shelby County Schools,” said Tom McBride, senior vice president of operations, Southeast Area.  “We are committed to delivering the highest level of safety and customer service to the schools, students and families. Our focus is on getting students to school safely, on time and ready to learn, and back home to their families every day.”

Durham’s agreement with the school district calls for 580 buses to serve 527 routes.  All the buses serving Shelby County Schools will be equipped with a GPS tracking system and video cameras, which will ensure safety and on-time arrival for all students.   In addition, 265 jobs will be created with Durham holding job fairs seeking bus drivers, dispatchers and monitors.

Job fairs will be held:

  • 5/27/14, Tuesday             Collierville Public Library             5pm – 7pm
  • 5/28/14, Wednesday      Desoto WIN Job Center                9am – 1pm
  • 5/30/14, Friday                  West Memphis Job Fair     8am – 1pm
